Photographers

Michael Thompson:

Micheal Thompson was born and raised in Washington State, America, in which he was first introduced too photography by his father in his small portrait studio. After graduating high school, he earned a degree from the Brooks institute of photography and went on too move too New York and work with the legendary photographer Irving Penn.
Since then, Thompson has gone on too photograph famous models and celebrities for countless magazines such as QG, Vogue, Bazaar, Vanity Fair and The New York times Magazine.
Not only is he renound for his photography work, but he has received multiple awards for his
fragrance commercial 'Lovely' by Sarah Jessica Parker.

In my opinion, I find that Thompsons work reflects how I wish too photograph my chosen model for my piece. The vast use of black and white colour pallets make his work appear or sophisticated and eye catching due too the colour pallet highlighting the most important parts of the models body.

Irving Penn:

Irving Penn (June 16,1917- October 7,2009) was an American photographer who was most well known for his fashion photography, still lifes and portraits. His work was featured on Vogue magazine and his own independent advertising work for clients including Issey Miyake and Clinque. Penn's work has been exhibited and distributed internationally and still shapes the art of photography today.

In my opinon, I find his work amazingly beautiful! The way in which he really captures the tones on the models faces, emphasizing every aspect of them. The extensive use of black and white in his images really connotes a vintage feel too his work and  has been an inspiration for other photographers with his black and white images.
They vast use of head shots in the grey, white and black colour pallet has me want too do a black and white image even more due to his work.
